Innovation and passion have been the driver of Betsy’s career and many interests. After college, she spent the first years of her professional life working in health insurance as a medical underwriter and analyst. Working closely with the insurance medical team comprised of nurses and doctors, she created new polices that determined coverage of advancing medical treatments of the day. It sparked an interest in health and healthcare that never left her.

Destiny led Betsy to a three-year adventure helping her husband run a small business in Ohio. They drove to work each day with their yellow Labrador retriever in tow. Wearing many hats, heavily focused on Human Resources, she learned the rewards and challenges of running an operational business. Eventually another adventure led her in a different direction.

Always yearning to see and experience the world, Betsy accepted a position at American Airlines in 1996 and spent the next 20 years learning many aspects of aviation and travel. It was sheer focus and innovation that propelled her quickly into management positions. She was consistently promoted within and gained valuable experience in Reservations, Human Resources, Workers Compensation and Global Sales. She is best known for her positive and “Tigger like” disposition and inclusive management style, which earned her accolades such as “Manager of the Year” and the coveted “Global Sales Award”.

Feeling that she had accomplished what she set out to do in the world of travel, Betsy left American Airlines in 2016 to pursue a calling. The journey was one of many winding roads, but is best described by this quote:

“When the need for something; a sense of purpose, better health, a relationship or expressing authenticity; becomes greater than the need for security, comfort or the approval of others, the choice is clear. You embrace the unknown”. – Betsy Bruns
